How this works

The aircraft is chosen by the leg, not by preference. A light jet crosses Europe; a transatlantic crossing needs a heavy or an ultra-long-range aircraft, and the difference is range and payload rather than comfort.

Charter suits occasional flying. Fractional and block hours suit regular routes. Ownership is a fixed cost with a crew attached, and it only makes sense above a threshold of hours we will tell you honestly, even when the answer is that you should not buy.

  • Charter, fractional or ownership?

    Charter below roughly fifty hours a year, fractional or block hours between fifty and two hundred, ownership above that — and only if your routes are consistent. We would rather tell you not to buy than sell you an aircraft that sits.

  • What is an empty leg?

    An aircraft repositioning without passengers. If your dates and route happen to match, it costs a fraction of a charter. It is opportunistic by nature and cannot be planned around.

  • Why does the airport matter more than the city?

    Because the transfer is often longer than the flight saving. A field fifteen minutes from where you are going beats one that is closer to the runway and an hour from the door.
